3D projection at Gorafe Interpretation Center

Situation & challenge

The new Centro de Interpretación del Megalitismo de Gorafe (Gorafe Megalithism Interpretation Center) was inaugurated in June (2011). It is the community's big commitment toward promoting the local cultural heritage. The aim was to bring the history and curiosities of one of the most important necropolises in Spain to the public's attention.

Solution

Virtualware has developed a complex 3D system (hardware and software) that visually and immersively explains how people lived in Gorafe 4.500 years ago. It consists of a 3D projection measuring 3.5 meters wide by 2.20 meters high that submerges the public in a prehistoric habitat occupied by tribes and characterized by burials in collective graves.

Results

A three-dimensional setting that manages to convey and explain, in an immersive fashion, what the settlement's life as a society was like, how they built the dolmens, their burial ritual.
