The engineering firm IDOM, together with DEFEX (the public Spanish company leading the project), is collaborating with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture on a large scale project to improve the country's major archaeological sites including the Pyramids of Giza, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Luxor Temple and other sites. One part of the project was developed with the aim of showing in an interactive manner the historic evolution of the Giza complex, which is the largest cemetery of ancient Egypt (UNESCO World Heritage Site, 1977).
Virtualware participated in this project with the developing of a virtual reconstruction of the archaeological complex of Giza. The highly detailled 3D recreation shows the evolution of the complex and the different phases of the site over the years. A 3D animation tells the story of how the three great pyramids of the IV Dynasty were erected.
The Virtual reconstruction will be installed at the interpretation centre in Egypt.
