Codelco, Chile’s national copper mining company, participates in the annual exhibition of the mining industry, where it presents its projects and initiatives in an innovative way by introducing attractive technology for visitors to their stand to interact with.
Virtualware was responsible for supplying the display technologies used in the stand of Codelco with the aim of creating different interactive information points.
One of the most innovative solutions at this interactive space was the transparent LED display used to show the novel uses of the copper in fabrics, hospital tools and nets for the aquaculture. The visitors were able to see physical objects located within the display through the clear glass front, as well as interact with digital content displayed on the transparent LED.
Virtualware also installed three interactive virtual mirrors that used Augmented Reality technology and were soon abuzz with visitors. The displays offered more information than the structural projects of Codelco, by introducing Augmented Reality technology. Three tablets with the app preinstalled were available for visitors to use. The same app is now available to download for both Android and iOS mobile devices.
Another visitor favourite of the stand was the Augmented Reality screen where users were given cubes with different images on each face. When held up to the screen fitted with a webcam, different 3D content was launched based on the image of each cube.
The turnout to the stand was exceptional, with many visitors leaving surprised by the innovative ways being used to show the uses of copper and projects of Codelco. Sergio Fuentes, Vicepresident of Projects at Codelco, felt great satisfaction with the final results, and commented “I think that this is a great way to show the activities and results of the work of Codelco ".
