Advanced console for the playful rehabilitation of children with neuromotor disabilities

IMPACT

Patients with severe deficiencies of movement, posture and expression, among others, will use in their everyday life this system both at home and/or at care centers.

Video games have already been used for rehabilitation but none of the existing ones on the market offers an overall solution to this specific recovery needs.

The outcome systems will provide the following features:

  • Alternative access to computer by movements of head, eyes and arms, with various options and multimodal sensor fusion.
  • Reducing-filter screen from the involuntary movements.
  • a Gamified environment based on highly interactive serious games.
  • Measurement and recording thorough an specific application parameters and functions associated with cognitive and motor deficiencies for therapists, clinicians and researchers.
  • Development of new metrics for assessing deficiencies and to monitor progress of various therapies.

All these unique features make the proposed system an unique product in the market.

Moreover, all researchers and experts participating in the project have an extensive background about the needs of the target population (some of them have over twenty years experience in the field) and are conscious about the scarce resources of specialized care centers for this mater.
